What are car spoilers or wings?
faisal farrukh asked:
The car wing or spoiler is made from a styled piece of fiberglass that improves the aerodynamics of your car leave alone the look it gives your car. The spoiler or car wings can be found in many different shapes and styles depending on the type and size of the car. There is a type of car spoiler called high hoop spoiler like the one spotted on the 4th generation Toyota Supra spoiler and the small lip spoiler like the one spotted on the latest model of BMW M3 trunklid spoiler. So, car wings or spoilers are devices made for the intention of ‘spoiling’ the unfavorable air currents a cross a body of a car in motion. Spoilers that are placed at the front of the car are also called air dams because they not only redirect air movements but the also reduce the intensity of air flowing underneath the car hence lowering the aerodynamic lift. Due to there operations and forms, car wings are placed on most racing and sporty cars or any other high performance cars. But these are not the trend anymore because now it is common to get a passenger car fitted with car wings or spoilers. Some car wings and spoilers are not placed on cars for regulation of air flow but rather for the purpose of aesthetic or beautifying the cars Materials used on making car wings and spoilers Due to the nature of their work be it for beautification or aerodynamics, the car spoiler are made from special material and techniques, the ones tat make them outstanding and liked. So maybe your car wing is made from these materials down here: • Fiberglass: - The fiberglass is used in car production due to the reduced cost of manufacturing process. The fiberglass is made from fiberglass filler which sis gripped with artificial tar. Fiberglass is durable enough and workable and malleable into different shapes and styles • ABS plastics:- When you buy original car wings, they are most probably created by casting ABC plastic with various admixtures which is the base of plasticity to the affordable but fragile ABC plastic • Silicon: - This is the latest invention for the car makers. The car wing maker uses silicon-organic polymers to come up with sleek and beautiful car spoilers that will attract people’s attention wherever you pull over. The car wings made from silicon have a plasticity phenomenon and have a longer and higher thermal characteristics which boosts it s life span • Carbon fiber: - This is the latest and untapped, material in the motor vehicle manufacture. Carbon is very light, durable but an expensive, material so most car wings on luxurious cars are made from it. Unlike the fiberglass, carbon fiber’s solidification takes place in the pressure chamber under high temperature Generally adding car wingsor spoilers to your car will change the look and make it even more exotic and posh.
